You can defend the knee cut pass using the Reverse De la Riva Guard, finishing with a tripod sweep. You can use a stiff arm with a belt grip. You can use a butterfly hook to reset the knee position. You can bump his bum forward with your knee and take the back; if he backsteps to defend the backtake or sweep, you can do the Jedi Mind trip to sweep and enter the leg drag.
