When passing the open guard, the opponent often defends by turning on his side and framing with his arms to buy time for recovering the legs. You can use the topspin concept to move to the other side. When your opponents uses the stepover to defend a pass, you can smash his legs to the floor and pass to the back side. If he inverts, you can move into the leg drag.
